
Our Tutors
Our only asset is our tutors. We owe our success to their devotion and professionalism. Our reputation rests entirely on their shoulders. The Cornerstone board carefully screens all applicants. All tutors must have classroom experience and be qualified to teach in their discipline.
Mrs. Angie Clement 
Mrs. Angie Clement is the Cornerstone Latin teacher. She has a B.A. in English and an M.A.T. in Latin from the University of Virginia. She has been teaching at Cornerstone since 1996. The mother of six children, she is currently home-schooling her three youngest.
Mrs. Cindy Herndon
Mrs. Cindy Herndon graduated from Frostburg State in 1976 with a degree in English and Education. She then began a career teaching in junior high. After 5 years, she moved to a parochial high school. After 14 years in the traditional classroom, she became a stay at home mom, to be followed by a home school mom which she has done for the past 17 years. She joined Cornerstone in 1999 where she teachescomposition/elements of literature, American literature, and the American Novel and Drama.
Col. William Holmes 
Colonel Holmes, US Army (Retired), 32 years active duty holds a B.A. in European History, an M.A. in Diplomatic History, and an M.S. in International Relations. In addition to 13 years in commercial real estate development, Col. Holmes also taught special education, 6th grade math and science for two years at Crofton Middle School. He has been a tutor in US History, World History, and American Government/Basic Economics at Cornerstone since 2001.
Mrs. Amy Jenkins 
Mrs. Amy Jenkins graduated from The Ohio State University earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Computer and Information Science Engineering. She then worked at IBM for 11 years in logic design, technical sales, and network management consulting and education. She has been a Cornerstone math tutor since 1997, using her skills to tutor from pre-algebra through calculus. She and her family are active members of Faith Community Church. She is married with three children.
Mrs. Sharon Jollie 
Mrs. Jollie has a BS degree in education with majors in Math and Music from Concordia University in Seward, NE. She also earned a M.A. degree in Family and Adult Education from the University of Minnesota. Mrs. Jollie has experience teaching high school math, as well as various music classes and instruments to students of all ages. She has homeschooled her three children through some of their educational years. Her husband works for NIH. She is a proponent of life long learning and enjoys spending time with her family, playing games, playing music in various groups, and spending time in the great outdoors.
Mr. Don Luce 
Mr. Don Luce graduated with a B.S. in Secondary Education from Slippery
Rock
University. He earned a M. Ed in Secondary Education from the University of
Pittsburgh. He has taught science for 35 years, including 25 years in Anne
Arundel County Schools. He is married, with two married daughters. He is a
member of Severna Park EP Church and has been tutoring at Cornerstone since
2005.
Mrs. Marsha MacLeod 
Mrs. MacLeod received a B.A. in English from Arizona State University and an M.A. in English from California State University Long Beach. She has taught students in traditional classrooms and has tutored in the homeschooling community, including two years as a tutor at Cornerstone from 2002-2004. Words interest her, and God's Word captivates her. She loves to write and to encourage students with their writing.
Mrs. Chris Schaeffer 
Mrs. Schaeffer’s college studies (ASN, RN, BS) led her into nursing, with her emphasis on epidemiology and disease control. She and her husband Steve (& one son) served as missionaries in Papua New Guinea from 1989-1993. After returning to the USA Mrs. Schaeffer specialized in hospice nursing and home educating her three sons. Due to a long history of globe trotting with her diplomat parents and her own travels as a missionary in Oceania, her natural interest in geography led to an intense study of grade school and then high school geography. She has used many of the materials that have come along in recent years to help her develop her unique way of teaching World Regional Geography. Mrs. Schaeffer has been tutoring at Cornerstone since the fall of 2006.
Mrs Megan Swartz
Mrs. Megan Swartz studied English Language and Literature at Grove City
College and the University of Maryland (UM), where she received a
Master's in Composition and Rhetoric. While studying at UM, she taught
Introduction to Academic Writing, a rhetoric-based writing course for
freshmen. She has been tutoring at Cornerstone since 2005. She and her
husband are members of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bowie. She
has
two young children.
