Latin III
Latin III is offered in alternating school year. It will be offered in the 2008-2009 school year.
The Latin III course builds on the work of Latin I and Latin II. It is a challenging course open to students who have successfully completed Latin II at Cornerstone with mastery level knowledge of the material. Students who have completed HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL Latin work elsewhere may be able to take the course after consultation with the tutor. Students will complete their study of Latin grammar. Topics will include the formation and uses of the subjunctive, the use of indirect statements, ablative absolutes and other points. Students will continue to translate from Latin to English and from English to Latin; translation passages will include some works by Roman authors. Students will have weekly grammar, vocabulary and translation assignments. There will be regular vocabulary quizzes and tests. Students will write a book report and present an oral report on some aspect of Roman history or culture.
