Latin III

Latin III is offered in alternating school year. It will be offered in the 2010-2011 school year.
The Latin III course builds on the work of Latin I and Latin II. It is a challenging course open to students who have successfully completed Latin II at Cornerstone with mastery level knowledge of the material. Students who have completed HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL Latin work elsewhere may be able to take the course after consultation with the tutor. Students will complete their study of Latin grammar. Topics will include the formation and uses of the subjunctive, the use of indirect statements, ablative absolutes and other points. Students will continue to translate from Latin to English and from English to Latin; translation passages will include some works by Roman authors. Students will have weekly grammar, vocabulary and translation assignments. There will be regular vocabulary quizzes and tests. Students will participate in the Roman banquet in the spring.

(ISBN 0-87891-381-5)  This is the same book we have been using for Latin II.
We will also continue to use The Story of the Romans by H. A. Guerber.
There will be a $10.00 copy fee which will include a workbook which students will receive the first week of class.

Supplies:

  1. pink, blue, green, white, yellow, purple, and orange 3”x5” index cards;
  2. red, blue, and green colored pencils;
  3. container to hold cards
