Homework, Tests, and Quizzes
Students will be expected to come to class prepared to participate in discussions. Please read the texts and complete the assignments before Monday. Quizzes will be given in class based on lecture discussions and the assigned readings. Please bring the A Beka Student Quizzes booklet to class on the first day. I will collect these from the students to use during class throughout the year. Occasionally I will assign quizzes to be taken at home. For these assignments, I will send the specific quizzes home with the students to be given and graded by parents. Tests will be given at home and are to be graded by parents.
Other supplies
• 2 - two pocket folders
• a set of colored pencils
• note cards
• notebook (can be a 3 ring binder or a spiral)
The folders are to maintain order while papers are passed between student and tutor. The student’s name should be on the folder. During each class I will ask for specific assignments from the week to be turned in. It may be one or it may be all that were assigned. The student will then put all requested papers in the folder to be turned in. The other folder will be used for current work, assignments that are being returned, assignments that aren’t being collected, and/or informational papers for parents. The colored pencils will be used for coloring the anatomy pages in the lab manual. The note cards will be used to make flash cards for the vast amount of new vocabulary that comes with learning biology. Finally, the notebooks are for taking notes during the lecture part of class.
