Advanced Comp/Poetry Seminar
(Offered in Spring)
The focus of this course is college-style writing based upon fiction and poetry, combining the best of advanced composition skills with an in-depth look at poetry. Students will tackle the development of original ideas and learn to defend a position in an essay. Students should plan to come to class having completed the reading of One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The textbook for this course is Literature: An Introduction to Reading and Writing, 6th edition, Prentice Hall, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. This text has fiction, poetry and drama in one volume.
