British Literature

Description:

Beginning with legends and the slaying of dragons, British Literature surveys the development of drama, poetry, essays, novels, and short stories.  Each week students
will have about three hours of reading and two hours of writing.  Written assignments will include creative writing assignments as well as essays.  Student evaluations will be based upon written and oral assignments, class participation, and tests.

In addition to selections in the textbook, we will read The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare and Animal Farm by George Orwell.  In the second semester, each student will choose a favorite novel by a British author and give a presentation to the class on the author and novel.
